Poets still needed for TBABJ Poetry Slam Thursday

Just a reminder -- we still need poets to step up for the TBABJ's Thid Poetry Slam this Thursday at Studio@620 in St. Petersburg!

(We can use an audience, too, so feel free to come even if you aren't ready to rhyme onstage)

Scheduled from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. , the slam will be held at Studio@620, 620 First Ave. South, St. Petersburg. Host will be local poetry phenom, L.I.F.E.

The Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists presents a prime opportunity for creative people to meet the top media and communications professionals in the area.

The Poetry Slam features performances by top area poets, a chance for unknowns to come in and compete and prizes for the best performers.

Top prize is $50, second prize is two free passes to the Florida Aquarium and the top four finishers will perform at the TBABJ's Aug. 7 Scholarship fund raiser at the Florida Aquarium, a featured party capping the National Association of Black Journalists' convention in Tampa.

Admission is $5 at the door -- Call or email in advance to perform.
